The first step to taking a picture, is finding that inspiration. That strange scene that makes you want to look more and more, just to try and figure out what it could mean or what could have happened there. There are endless positions to take a picture from, so many angles to choose, and many different styles that you can create your own. I simply use instinct. There isn’t really a technique I have, at least not that I can tell, other than shooting what I think is unique and stands out. It’s just a natural thing.
When I was little, all I would do would be look at pictures or be in pictures or take the camera and run around. A huge love that I have now started out as a side thing. I never would have imagined that a little joy for photography could develop into my lifelong dream. Freshman year was my experiment, Sophomore year was my inspiration, Junior year I got my first camera, and now I feel like a full-grown photographer. As I went through the years, I started to learn more and more and use new looks on things, such as lenses. A different lens can completely change one’s outlook on something. The look I love most and can find an abundance of beauty with is a macro lens, which helps with close-ups and very defined, small details on things. Such as flowers, wood, things like that. The challenge to this is keeping a steady hand and being able to explore certain things by getting close. You’ve got to get close to your subject to capture it properly.
